Rachelle will play hippie doctor Eva, who according to Entertainment Weekly, has a great deal of knowledge in “international medicine.” Eva will have a history with the medical clinic the series is set around, thanks to her characters former romantic dalliance with Ben, played by New Zealand-bred actor Martin Henderson.
This isn’t Rachelle’s first time to nab a TV role. She’s had guest roles in “CSI,” “Boston Legal,” and a five episode arc in the ill-fated “Swingtown.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, “Off The Map,” is the third medical-based drama from Shonda. This time, however, the “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” creator is taking an executive role, as the series, which will hit screens midseason, was created by “Grey’s” writer Jenna Bans.
“I didn’t write it. GA writer Jenna Bans is creator of Off The Map,” Shonda Tweeted back in January “I’m just like a proud, proud mama exec producing.”
Like “Grey’s” and “Private Practice,” the new series is also about medical personnel, but this time there’s no swanky hospital or flashy private facility involved. “Off The Map” will be based around doctors who work in a tropical area.
Deadline reported that Marnie Gummer, Meryl Streep’s daughter, is also in the cast as is former “Without A Trace” star Enrique Muriano, Puerto Rican star Jose Julian, and recent “The Pacific” actress Caroline Dhavernas.
Also in the cast is recent “Grey’s” hunk Jason George, who played Bailey’s love interest, Dr. Ben Warren.
Rachelle Lefevre (”Victoria” in Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon) is going to give television another go as she is now joining a new series called Off The Map.
According to Entertainment Weekly, “Lefevre’s character, Eva, is a free-spirited missionary doc who is well versed in international medicine and global health. She worked at the clinic before, but left due to her troubled romantic history with its founder, Ben (Martin Henderson).”
Rachelle Lefevre recently appeared on The Deep End as “Katie,” and she has also appeared on TV shows like Swingtown and Boston Legal. She actually got her start in acting with 1999’s Big Wolf On Campus.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t the only celebrity walking the halls in Sacramento. On Tuesday, June 1st, actresses Rosario Dawson, Amy Smart, and Rachelle Lefevre joined Environment California’s legislative director Dan Jacobson at the California state capitol, to lobby members of the Assembly for their support on AB 1998, a high profile bill that would ban plastic bags.
Earlier in the morning, the four joined Assmeblywoman Brownley, representatives from the California Grocers Association and the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Heal the Bay, and Californians Against Waste for a press conference highlighting the historic wide-spread and diverse support for this legislation.
Bringing great attention to what is at stake, actress Amy Smart noted, “California’s economy is pumped up by the $53 billion that is generated each year as a result of these clean beaches.” Rosario Dawson spoke on the reality that “nothing we use for 5 minutes should pollute our oceans for 500 years.” Rachelle Lefevre noted the coalition is serious, saying, “if Sacramento can’t or won’t get it done, we will work with mayors and others around the state to solve this problem.”
Their message was heard: the following day, the California state Assembly passed AB 1998 with 41 votes. AB 1998 (Brownley) would ban grocery stores, pharmacies and convenience stores from giving away free plastic bags at the point of checkout.
“Environment California applauds the California State Assembly and Speaker Perez for passing AB 1998 today. With oil spewing into our oceans, and the Pacific Garbage Patch growing bigger every year, this bill take real action to protect our oceans,” said Gina Goodhill, Oceans Advocate with Environment California.
The bill now heads for the Senate, where it will go first to either the Natural Resources and Water Committee or the Environmental Quality Committee.
